Summer 2007 Hello and Happy Summer to All,
I am delighted to write to you now and to inform you about the exciting things occurring at Susan’s Special Needs in the next few months. We are all very happy in our new location and I am thankful we have seen many of you as you have popped in to say hello, to get new bras or to look at swimsuits and such. Thank you for your ongoing support of our store and for your kindness and understanding while accommodating new staff. I am very happy now as we have a new Administrative Assistant, Dorothy Dier and both she and Kristi Diamond have helped me tremendously to reorganize our space and to resume smooth sailing on the medical billing end. Everything is in place now and I am very reassured that we have tied up all loose ends. If you have any questions for us do not hesitate to call and we will follow through with any questions you may have.
We thank our designer, decorator, painter Cindy Gizzi as she now completes the final touches to our boutique. It is her inspiration, hard work and vision that has given Susan’s Special Needs a unique opportunity to provide beautiful and comfy surroundings. The store represents a street in Paris and each of our patient rooms is painted with stunning colors and elegance. If you have not seen it, please stop by for a quick look and receive a free gift of a summer scarf. This scarf represents the fun and fashion of Paris and adds the right dash of color to any summer outfit. We will be glad to see you, to offer you a delicious cup of coffee from our café and take you on a tour.
I am constantly amazed at the opportunity I have to look at new products, to study them, to evaluate them fairly and to bring in new products that will please you, make you comfortable and offer you additional choices of bras, hats, turbans, wigs and breast forms that may fill a new need or concern. These products make our store unique providing a wide variety of choices for more than one type of bra or breast form. The products we provide are the answer to meeting your unique and individualized needs. I am so pleased with our new things that I can’t wait for everything to be here and to see it all. ABC T-shirt Bra offers all of us a seamless and smooth cup look. Many clients love this bra and due to its “breathability”, micro-fiber stretch and comfort they have one in every color. Update colors are: black, white, nude, pink, light blue, light lilac, red, pale aqua, leopard print and for fall Mocha. We will have them the end of July in sizes 34-44 A-D. Strapless Bra Update: The strapless bra has been a new favorite for many women and is gorgeous. This versatile bra can be worn 6 different ways, utilizing both the clear straps, the fabric straps or strapless. The security is great and the double layer of stretch fabric along the side panels offer a snug pull up fit that can’t be beat. Sizes are 34-4 0 A,B,C, D;42 A,B,C. Fall update ready as of September 25 add, 34-42 AA. Colors are beige and black. Gorgeous!!!!!!
T-shirt Molded Cup Bra is perfect for petite size women, with a petite cup and size that offers us the exact right size molded cup seamless cup bra. This bra has been a hit; it offers a little bit of lace detail and is stunning under a pretty shirt. Sizes are 32-38AAA, A,B. Also, 32-36C. It is available in beige but will now come in black, arriving September 25. Wonderful!
ABC 113 Molded Cup Bra Cotton and provides support without compression. It has an average fit and features gorgeous fashion forward detailing on the straps and in the center. The feel of this bra is that of cotton, although the molded cup will allow you to go anywhere with it. This bra has the most comfortable fit that I have tried on and a great bra to make sure that you have while traveling. A must have for any wardrobe. Colors: white and a very delicate light pink. NEW ABC Wireless T-shirt Bra This t-shirt bra has a supportive seamless, molded cup and offers a complete smooth look. Similar to the bra featured in Oprah’s Favorite Spring Things, this type bra has never been available for women after breast surgery. This one is phenomenal and a must have for each of us for comfort, fashion and function. A wonderful fit and feel. Color: Beige only. 38-44A, 34-44 B,C,D, 36-44DD. ABC a New Breast Form Shape One of a kind. This manufacturer listens to us as Certified Breast Form fitters and now offers us a new shape breast form. The base of this classic triangle is wider and helps to solve a variety of fitting needs such as duplicating fullness in the bottom quadrant of the breast itself or giving some fullness to the side near the underarm but the drape is different and does not protrude with lots of projection. Lightweight and soft. Please reserve the dates of October 5 and 6th, 2007 for our ABC Breast Care promotion to present this form with Sue Blue, company representative. 10 AM – 5 PM. Come see us and help us celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month as a portion of the proceeds of this form will be donated to the non-profit organization of your choice. Camisole News We continue to look at this issue and look at all products offered to us. We all want the pocketed camisole to wear under a favorite suit, blazer or blouse. We have 2 styles in stock for your consideration. One is the ABC white spaghetti strap top with built in bra. The Cami is cotton with great lace detail and nice stretch. Perfect for summer weather. Sizes run by bra cup. White only. The other Cami is the Luisa Tank Cami that is a poly/cotton blend, and adjustable spaghetti straps with a foam cup bra built in. New Formed Fabric Leisure Forms Triangular in shape and light weight, there are new swim forms coming, clear in color a little more structured and a little thicker throughout the middle for a little more projection in a swimsuit. Remember, if your swim form moves in the pocket of the suit add an inside running stitch seam under the base of the swim form to keep it in place in the suit. Also, (I am very excited about this) we have lots of ladies with different degrees of chest wall numbness and pain due to a variety of reasons, we have found new side panel and bottom panel comfy strips that are actually cushiony reusable pads that can be applied to the inside seams of any bra to prevent scratching, picking , pulling or pinching any breast or chest wall tissue. No. 5366 The twin strap look is the in thing and the 5366 gives us another look that is soft cup, micro-fiber with a lot of stretch. A perfect fit for those of us who like the soft cup seamless look. Beautiful on… and a perfect hit. Great to wear under tank tops with clear straps and or with regular straps. We call this one the “option bra”. Colors: black, white and nude.
Calmia Soft Bustier Bra Gentle and tender support without pressure after partial/breast operation and during radiation therapy. I am most excited about this functional and gorgeous bra that will fit a lot of needs of the women. The bra is also a seamless look, made of micro-fiber lined with silk. The bra itself has wider soft edging that prevent pressure points and lines and provides a light feeling of comfort. The bra has very flat edging under the bust and around the arms. Inside the cup it is lined with a pale cream silk lining without interfacing seams in the cup and back. Silk can absorb up to 30% of its own weight of moisture without feeling damp on the skin. Designed for “during and after” radiation therapy, for sensitive scar tissue and surrounding areas on the breast or over the upper body. It is also for generally sensitive skin on the breast and back areas. Even the straps are lined with silk. Incredible!! This is the perfect bra for those reconstruction and/or lumpectomy patients with sensitive scars, or those gals who are having multiple hot flashes and experience chest wall sweating. It is not pocketed, however, I tried it on with just my breast form against my chest wall and it was ok. It is the softest bra I have ever seen and would be a fantastic 1st post-operative bra after any breast surgery. You must see it to believe it. Available now. White only. 34-44A-D.
Seamless Cup Micro-fiber Front Closure Bra Offers support and comfort with a wide band and accent. It is extremely soft with lightweight terry padding along the front of the bra and around the arms. Lovely, comfortable and soft. Color: Champagne only and look at the sizing. 32-50A-C, 32-44D. A great exercise, travel and casual bra for day or evening. Available Sept 1, 2007.
Additionally, come September/ October We are adding some new embroidered, sheer bras with matching panties that will surprise and delight you. Finally, after all these years, mastectomy bras do not have to look old and dated. You now have options that can be fun, fashionable, comfortable, supportive and sexy and remind us that even after breast surgery we don’t have to look dowdy and awful. The Secret
Don’t tell anybody but pocketed bras can also be worn without using the pocket. Many of our client’s family and friends also wish to be correctly fitted with a bra. Along with a wide variety of mastectomy bras, with matching panties, we have added two additions to the non-mastectomy world for those gals who do not want to wear a mastectomy bra for whatever reason and for those gals who want a new bra from our store. They include 2 soft cup bras, one that is called the comfort bra, also micro-fiber in black, white, nude and cognac in 32-48 B-C,32-44D-E and 32-42F. These bras will be special order only in larger sizes. The second one is micro-fiber underwire soft cup in black, white and nude in 32-44B-E, 32-42F and 32-40G-H. Also, to be special ordered in larger sizes. Talk to us you have a lot of choices.
Did you know…
Swimsuits In all sizes…6-26. Some of them are on clearance now, however, we are looking for more 2 piece Tankini suits that are easy to get on and off while wearing a breast form. Come look at the new 2 piece’s. They’re great!
Slumbercap That is so versatile comes in black, brown, white, cream, navy, oatmeal, pink, bubblegum pink, rose pink, magenta, light blue, pale blue, denim blue, coffee, red, hunter green, light lilac, turquoise, light aqua, rust, purple, chamois and heather gray. Great alone or as a layering cap.
Hats We receive new shipments daily of hats like the Wallaroo hat. This hat is an incredible find and buy, it’s a poly/straw, or canvas cotton that protects your head and face from the sun (SPF 35 or 50 depending on the hat). They come in a wide variety of colors. Some are micro-fiber and reversible.
Turbans We also receive new kerchiefs from Jazz Up and others that offer some of the finest, non-turban, looks around. Easy, lightweight and offers complete coverage of the bald scalp.
Eyebrows We now carry human hair eyebrows that are realistic and can be applied directly to your eye brow arch with little fuss. The girls will be happy to apply them for you. Beautiful and offers that finished look.
Lindi Skin Care Developed by oncologists is awesome and soothing during chemotherapy and radiation. The Soothing Balm is our new favorite and offers that extra degree of comfort on a bald scalp. These are good gift ideas or for the pass it forward act of kindness.

Good Quick News…
Susan’s Special Needs is teaming up with a non-profit organization called the Pink Door, they will be opening a new retail shop in Milford on Main Street and Susan’s Special Needs will be joining them monthly to do breast form fittings. We are very excited to offer this extension of our services and products. More on this later.
